Pebble Beach Auction
presented by Gooding & Company

The gavel first fell at Pebble Beach back in 1990 and now the Pebble Beach Auction, conducted by the highly regarded firm of Gooding & Company, is one of the most anticipated events of the Pebble Beach Automotive Weekend. Fittingly, it has expanded in recent years to two evenings—both Saturday and Sunday.

Gooding & Company is committed to conducting automobile auctions of quality and distinction. For each and every vehicle, it strives to provide the highest level of presentation in catalogs and all marketing collateral materials and to follow the very best auction standards.

With Gooding & Company at the helm, the Pebble Beach Auction has set numerous world records, including the highest price paid for a prewar American car at auction (the 1935 Duesenberg SJ Speedster known as the Mormon Meteor sold for $4,455,000), a Ferrari road car (a 1967 Ferrari 275 GTS/4 alloy NART Spyder sold for $3,960,000), and a Bugatti Grand Prix car (a 1927 Bugatti Type 35C Grand Prix sold for $2,585,000).

Consignments are invited.

Automotive Fine Arts Society (AFAS) Exhibition

The latest creations of the finest automotive artists of our day are displayed annually at the Automotive Fine Arts Society (AFAS) Exhibition — located right on the show field of the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.

The automobile changed the whole of our culture almost immediately upon its introduction; it was more than transportation, it served as a status symbol, it was a matter of style. But it took some time for the art world to view the automobile as an appropriate subject of fine art.

In 1983, a group of respected artists with automotive interests formed AFAS to rectify this. They organized their first major exhibition at the 1986 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance and it was such a success that it quickly became a regular feature. In 2010, the exhibition celebrates its 25th anniversary!
