This prestigious, invitation-only competition is not only a spectacle of beautiful motorcars; it also serves as a fundraiser for nearly 100 charities throughout the Monterey Peninsula.Robb Report
The Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance brings together our passion for cars with the opportunity to raise money for people in need. With the help of our generous donors and sponsors, as well as many volunteers, the 2016 Concours was able to raise more than $1.7 million for charity. This brings the total raised for charity to more than $23 million since the Concours began in 1950.
Through our primary charitable partner, the Pebble Beach Company Foundation, proceeds from the Pebble Beach Concours benefit 85 local charities. Several charities also benefit directly from our Concours Opportunity Drawings as well as grants provided through the Foundation. Additional charities volunteer time and effort in exchange for donations, while other nonprofits benefit from the use of Concours infrastructure, such as tents, to host their own fundraisers.
PEBBLE BEACH COMPANY FOUNDATION
Our Primary Charitable Partner
The Pebble Beach Company Foundation, which is now celebrating over 40 years of giving, directly impacts the lives of more than 10,000 children annually in Monterey County.
Despite the fact that Monterey County is iconic—with its stunning natural beauty, world-class golf courses and its designation as a bucket-list travel destination—there is a troubling epidemic in the community. Sixty-seven percent of third-grade children cannot read at their grade level. Twenty-five percent of children under the age of 17 live below the poverty line. More than 50,000 residents require monthly food assistance. It is these figures, and ultimately these lives, that the Pebble Beach Company Foundation seeks to improve.
In 1975, the Pebble Beach Company Foundation was born with a mission to provide youth with the building blocks of success, starting with literacy and education. “Education, especially literacy, is a central focus of the Pebble Beach Company Foundation,” says Bill Perocchi, CEO of Pebble Beach Company. “We believe that education is critical for individuals to rise out of poverty. The money raised for and by the Foundation, and in turn distributed to our community partners, helps address this need.”
In 2016, the Foundation supported nearly 85 local nonprofit educational programs—including the arts, athletics, environmental sciences, educational organizations, and community programs—offering a record $960,000 in grants and scholarships.
In keeping with its focus on education, the Foundation is also working with the Concours to oversee the Phil Hill Scholarships program created to honor racing great and longtime friend of the Concours Phil Hill and encourage the next generation of automotive enthusiasts.
Pebble Beach Company Foundation is a 501(c)3 organization (Tax ID#51-0189888) and all donations are tax deductible.
The following charities also benefit directly from our Opportunity Drawings (and we offer our sincere thanks to BMW, Bulgari, Infiniti, Mercedes-Benz, Rolex and artist Tim Layzell for so generously donating the much-desired items):
